Marketplace coverage, explained by a person

Marketplace plans are the coverage most people mean when they say "Obamacare". What you pay depends on your household, your income and where you live, and the only way to know your own number is to look at your own situation.

Open Enrolment

There is a set window each year when anyone can enrol or change plans. Outside it you generally need a qualifying life event.

Special Enrolment Periods

Losing coverage, moving, marriage, a new baby and several other events can open a window outside Open Enrolment. Time limits apply.

Premium tax credits

Some households qualify for help with the premium, based on income and household size. Whether you qualify, and for how much, is determined by the Marketplace — not by me.

Networks and benefits differ

Two plans at a similar price can cover very different doctors and drugs. It is worth checking yours before you choose.

Questions people ask

Will I qualify for help with the cost?

Possibly. It depends on your household income and size, and the Marketplace makes that determination. I can walk you through what is asked and what it means.

Can I enrol right now?

During Open Enrolment, yes. Outside it, only if you have had a qualifying life event. Tell me what changed and I will tell you whether a window is open.

What does it cost to talk to you?

Nothing. There is no fee for reviewing options with me.

Check your options?

No cost, no obligation, and a straight answer.
